Jon's Random Acts of Geekery is your five days a week destination for old-school geekery!
This is like a radio show with pictures added later. Nothing that happens is just conveyed visually, it all has to be described by the narrator and also by the characters. Underdog shows up, and people say "Underdog, you're here," even though the viewer can clearly see that he's there. At one point, the narrator says that a character is laughing, even though you can both see and hear the character laughing. Some people write comic books this way too--when the superhero takes a punch, his word balloon will say "he's punching me!" If you have pictures, let the pictures tell the story.
Hmmm... well, to be honest, I didn't watch the toon I posted, since I had the DVD to watch. True, the narrator does tend to say what's on-screen... but for the most part, at least on the episodes I saw, the narrator served more of a vocal version of a comic-book caption.Jon
