You're welcome, Jamdin! I've heard that these and other DC cartoons of the time (i.e. Hawkman, Flash, Green Lantern, JLA, Atom) are going to be released on DVD finally -- I'll have to get that one, as I've got them all on an old bootleg VHS tape!
As I understand it, the Filmation "Guest Star" DVD will be released in August of this year! But for some reason, Warners has not announced any plans to release the 1968 Batman series! I mean, the only reason they appeared to release 1977's "The New Adventures of Batman" was due to Adam West and Burt Ward providing the voices of the Dynamic Duo (instead of Olan Soule and Casey Kasem, who--at the tme--were working on Hanna Barbera's Super-Friends series).
While it is sort of a novelty to hear West and Ward reprise their most famous roles--this time in animated form--the 1968 series was far superior in every way, from the main title sequence and music, to "real" fights with villains and the episodic feel borrowed from the live action West & Ward series.
Come on Warners...give the Filmation fans what they want!
That's what I've found out, too... I'll really have to get in gear and start getting those DVDs of Filmation stuff featuring the DC characters soon!
I'd love to see a DVD set of the live-action 1960 show, but I know that's got rights issues. I have no idea what the problem is with doing the 1968 animated series on DVD, though!
