It's sad to see Cap calling Mozo a "slant-eyed slug" -- and I say that even having read a few CM stories with Billy's houseboy Steamboat in them! But Tuska at least gets some points here for drawing the Asian character as recognizably human as opposed to some of the grotesque cariacatures seen in other comics of the era...including Steamboat, for that matter.

ReplyDeleteAll the racial stuff in the old Cap stories was mentioned for the longest time as one of the reasons we wouldn't be seeing a reprint of the "Monster Society of Evil" serial (although I'd imagine if the Shazam Archives keep going, that will come up sooner or later, if it hasn't already).
