Famous Monsters #147, Part 5!

As promised, this time around, we look at the article "Close Encounters of the Weird Kind"!

This article was an overview of SF tv shows and movies announced as going into production... and as was the case with some of the Castle of Frankenstein articles of the same type, I'm guessing not all of these made it into production! On this first page... the only movies I recognize that made it into production are "Starcrash" and "The Alien" (renamed simply "Alien" prior to release).

Mentioned on these pages are "The Altered State," which sounds like it was the original title of "Altered States," then "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes," "The BOys From Brazil," "Brianstorm," "The MArtian Chronicles," "The Incredible Shrinking Woman," "Flash Gordon," and "Invasion of the Body Snatchers," along with a lot of movies I doubt made it into production (heck, one movie mentioned was "Bicentennial Man," which finally got made this decade).

The final page of the article mentions a lot of movies, but I don't know if any of them outside of "Meteor" went into production! "Jaws 2" is mentioned with the photo, but not in the text.

Page 35, the final page of this installment, features "Mystery Photo #109," which I can't place at all... maybe one of you can? Apparently if you scramble the letters in "Bad Droid Food Lost On Mall" you can get the title of the movie this is from...

Next time around: Barry Atwater and Vampire Jokes!
