And here we are with the last Horror Comic Art Post for this year (unless, of course, I have some mixed in with the other original comic art posts)! Truth to tell, when I originally started culling the pictures I had of these together, I wasn't sure there'd be enough for the whole month... and as it stands, I won't even be halfway through the alphabet by the end of this post! So, I guess that means you can look forward to seeing more of these next October... and probably the October after that!

We begin this final Halloween Countdown: Original Comic Art post for 2009 with Steve Ditko's cover to Haunted #1!

Next, it's page 2 from EC's Haunt of Fear #17, by Jack Davis!

Next, it's "Ghastly" Graham Ingels' cover to Haunt of Fear #21!

Page 29 from Haunt of Fear #26, by Jack Davis!

And here's page 31!

Another Davis page, courtesy of Haunt of Fear #26, page 1!

Next, we have page 32 from Haunt of Horror #2, by Gene Colan... and I may have all the pages from this story to show you!

Yep, looks like 'em all!

The seller of this page identified it as being page 3 from Haunt of Horror #3, by Larry Lieber... but the page itself says "Tales of the Zombie," making me wonder if possibly it was intended for that, and ended up in Haunt of Horror instead?

Here's page 4!
And with that, we'll wrap up this year's Horror Comic Art coverage!

missing page 8 of 'Grandma died last year' ^_^;
ReplyDeleteI was wondering, if Tales of the Zombie was cancled before August 1974 (which is the cover date of the issue of Haunts of Horror that features that Swamp Stalkers story) but it didn't.. so i guess i must have been planned but then changed.. it does happen a fair bit it seams.. (Like the one story that was turned into a hulk story at the last second)
Yeah, page 8 was when he kills the wife so we don't feel so bad when the kid kills HIM. Looks like page 4 is missing too but doesnt interrupt the story flow. Disturbing story anyway! Nice art from Gene the Dean though!
ReplyDeleteWell, despite the missing pages, it's still enough to get the gist of the story, eh?
