So below, you'll find my final posts for the Halloween Countdown, the third year in a row I've participated in it, and my second year kind of organizing it.
I'd like to thank all my regular readers for joining me here each day, even those of you who may not care for monster-related stuff (that would be what, five or six of you?).
I'd also like to thank all the new readers who've found the Random Acts of Geekery thanks to links from the other participating blogs, and hope that you'll continue to check back daily for the regular monster features with Monster Mondays, Monster Magazine Reviews (every Wednesday), and occasional monster features in Children's Book Theatre (appears more or less randomly), as well as the fairly regular appearances in the Saturday Movie of the Week feature! I'm also hoping you'll check my other monster blogs daily (see the "Random Blogs of Geekery Family of Blogs" list on the left for all of my blogs)!
I'd also like to thank the eBay sellers who've posted decent photos of their monster-related stuff, without which this blog wouldn't have nearly as much to share every day! I hope that any of you readers who've spotted something you just have to have will search for them on eBay (not that I get anything out of it) and find those goodies from good sellers.
And finally, I'd like to thank all my fellow bloggers who've participated this year. Every year, more and more blogs take part in it, and even the bloggers who couldn't keep it going every single day deserve some credit for trying!
That's it for this year's Halloween Countdown! Thanks again to all of you. Tomorrow, it's back to the usual Random Geekery around here!
Welcome to the only non-Halloween post for Halloween itself! It's cool stuff! And let's begin with the Lone Ranger!
This squirt gun is a cute idea, but lacking in execution... if only the gun proper was on the side, where the Ranger would presumably be holding it. Still pretty cool, though!
Next, we have this Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny Stunt Car, made by AHI, who also made all those superheroes (particularly Batman and Spider-Man), Planet of the Apes, Star Trek and other carded toys you used to see at Kmarts and the like!
Now, Marvel collectibles!
Very cool set of 3rd Eye postcards! These were probably using the same art used on the other 3rd Eye products. Here's individual views:
There will be more Marvel stuff coming up, probably in the next Cool Stuff installment!
From Mego, here's the Bat-Coders, their Batman-themed walkie talkies! They also did Star Trek Communicator walkie-talkies.
One of the rarest Mego items is this Greatest American Hero bug and figures!
And now, some Micronauts!
Andromeda, Italian edition!
The Galactic Command Center!
And Time Traveler!
And finally, here's a Mexican Lobby Card for Mission: Stardust!
And here we are with the last Horror Comic Art Post for this year (unless, of course, I have some mixed in with the other original comic art posts)! Truth to tell, when I originally started culling the pictures I had of these together, I wasn't sure there'd be enough for the whole month... and as it stands, I won't even be halfway through the alphabet by the end of this post! So, I guess that means you can look forward to seeing more of these next October... and probably the October after that!
We begin this final Halloween Countdown: Original Comic Art post for 2009 with Steve Ditko's cover to Haunted #1!
Next, it's page 2 from EC's Haunt of Fear #17, by Jack Davis!
Next, it's "Ghastly" Graham Ingels' cover to Haunt of Fear #21!
Page 29 from Haunt of Fear #26, by Jack Davis!
And here's page 31!
Another Davis page, courtesy of Haunt of Fear #26, page 1!
Next, we have page 32 from Haunt of Horror #2, by Gene Colan... and I may have all the pages from this story to show you!
Yep, looks like 'em all!
The seller of this page identified it as being page 3 from Haunt of Horror #3, by Larry Lieber... but the page itself says "Tales of the Zombie," making me wonder if possibly it was intended for that, and ended up in Haunt of Horror instead?
Here's page 4!
And with that, we'll wrap up this year's Horror Comic Art coverage!
