This installment begins with issue 710's "Francis the Talking Mule"! More after the jump!

Issue 720 features what I think is the first TV adaptation cover-featured (at least for the divisible by 10 issues)... Gunsmoke!

For the uninitiated, issue 730's Smokey Stover was another newspaper strip, one that introduced at least one new word to the English language!

Issue 740 features Chilly Willy!

Issue 750's "The Great Cat Family" was based on an episode of Disney's Wonderful World of Disney!

Issue 760 featured the Hardy Boys, called "Walt Disney's" because it was based on the Hardy Boys mini-episodes that were part of the Mickey Mouse Club!

I'm guessing issue 770's "Brave Eagle" was another movie adaptation...

Captain Kangaroo looks a little scary on the cover of issue 780, doesn't he?

Issue 790 is another Movie Classic!

And issue 800 features another movie adaptation... why some of these were "Movie Classics" on the cover and others weren't is beyond me!
More coming up on Sunday!
The Buccaneers is actually one of those 50's one-season tv series with 39 episodes available on a cheap Mill Creek DVD set. It actually develops as a continuing story with Robert Shaw's Dan Tempest not showing up immediately.
ReplyDeleteIf you liked Richard Greene in The Adventures of Robin Hood, you should check out The Buccaneers.
