This week's installment of original comic art begins with a pair of Superman Family pages! The first one shown here is page 8 from Superman Family #192, art by Joe Staton!

Here's page 5 from the following issue of Superman Family, also from the Superboy story, and also by Staton!

Next, here's page 20 from Superboy #85, by George Papp!

Page 3 from Superboy #89, by Papp!

Page 5 from Superboy 89!

Page 8 from Superboy 89!

Page 25 from Superboy #117, by Curt Swan!

Page 19 from Superboy #158, by Wally Wood!

Nick Cardy's cover to Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes #198!

Next is an oddity of sorts... the inside back cover to a Supercar annual from the UK, I believe the artist was Roy Osrin.

Next, page 9 from Super Friends #32, by Kurt Schaffenberger!

Page 25 from Super Friends #43, by Staton!

Page 2 from Super Friends #47! The seller didn't know who did the art, but apparently the inking was by Vince Colletta.

Here's the original art for a Super Friends subscription offer by Ramona Fradon!

Bob Oksner's cover for Supergirl #8!

Anyone have any idea which issue of Superman or Action Comics this Sikela page (#11) came from?

Page 22 from Superman #167, by Curt Swan!

Page 13 from Superman #229, by Swan!

Page 5 from Superman #250, by Swan and Murphy Anderson! I believe this is from the second Terra-Man story.

Page 17 from Superman #333, by Swan!

Page 29 from Superman #369, by Rich Buckler!

Gil Kane's cover to Superman #384!

Page 9 from Superman #420, by Swan!

Superman comics strip page for November 7, 1948, by Wayne Boring!

Neal Adams' cover art for the Power Record "Best Cop In The World"!

Another Superman comics page #11, but from which issue? Haven't a clue. It's by the Joe Shuster studio.

And we'll wrap up this installment with Swan's cover to Superman Annual #7!

Wow! Some SUPER stuff this time! I love that SUPERMAN 333 page by Swan! The SUPERBOY page by Wood, however, was actually Bob Brown inked by Wood. They did a number of issues together and made a good team.
ReplyDeleteAs far as that SUPER FRIENDS page, GCD says it's Romeo Tanghal art but, as you say, it is clearly Colletta inks!
Glad you enjoyed it, Steve!
ReplyDeleteJon,
ReplyDeleteI asked Bob Hughes to take a look at 2 of these pages, and here's his reply:
Re: "Anyone have any idea which issue of Superman or Action Comics this Sikela page (#11) came from?"
The other page is not by Sikela. It's by Sam Citron. There are a number of unpublished Sam Citron pages out there, including a complete story I found on Heritage yesterday. I gather Weisinger didn't like his art.
Re: "Another Superman comics page #11, but from which issue? Haven't a clue. It's by the Joe Shuster studio."
The page is by Wayne Boring and it's from the never published K-metal story.
Hope this helps! (And a big thanks to Bob!)
