Dog of the Geek: Woofer and Wimper, Dog Detectives!

woofer and wimperBreed: Bloodhounds

Original Appearances: Clue Club (Hanna-Barbera, 1976-1977, CBS)
Other Appearances: Cut-down versions aired on Skatebirds (CBS 1977-1978) and The Robonic Stooges (1978).

Biography:
Woofer and Wimper were two talking bloodhounds who helped solve mysteries as part of Clue Club, which was comprised of Dotty, Pepper, D.D., and Larry. Wimper would typically accuse suspects without good reason, later back-tracking while proclaiming his genius, while Woofer was more down-to-earth who would at times go along with Wimper's schemes. Woofer tended to find pertinent clues. It's possible that I've got the two mixed up here, as Wikipedia's worse than usual with editing on this article.

Powers: Ability to speak, but apparently only to each other.

Group Affiliation:
Clue Club

Miscellaneous:
Yet another variation on the Scooby-Doo formula by Hanna-Barbera. Woofer was voiced by Paul Winchell, with Jim MacGeorge voicing Wimper.

  2. I sense great confusion in you, Kal... it's Siskoid's Blog of Geekery that has been doing the Cat of the Geek series, while here at Random Acts of Geekery, the only animal of the geek has been the Dog of the Geek, and that has been the case since the series of posts began on April 8th of 2010!

  3. Yah, you do have Woofer & Wimper mixed up. Woofer was the delusional one, while Wimper tried to bring him back to reality but played along. You do have the voice actors correctly matched, though (like, how can you not recognize Paul Winchell's voice, since it was the same one he used for the scrubbing bubbles ads and for Tigger).
