Original Comic Art!

turok26_01_giolitti
As we wind our way towards the end of the "Original Comic Art" articles here on Random Acts of Geekery (more on that later), we start with Alberto Gilotti, page 1 of Turok, Son of Stone #26!

Random Videos of Geekery: Benny Hill - "How to Meet Beautiful Women"

Blame this month's Random Videos of Geekery on Mark Evanier -- back in January (when I started preparing this month's posts), he posted a video from YouTube that was a documentary on Benny Hill... and I'd forgotten how funny the guy was! So here's the first of several Benny Hill videos for you to watch and laugh with this month (naturally, these are mostly NSFW!).

10 of a Kind: Favorite Sitcoms!

This week's installment of 10 of a Kind focuses on my favorite US television sitcoms! Well, at least, it's 10 of my favorites, anyway. Certainly there are favorite TV shows of mine that fit into the sitcom formula (such as The Monkees) that aren't on this list... but there you go! Rather than explain what it is about each of these shows that appeals to me, I'm going to (hopefully) post a clip from YouTube that I think will help show you what it is about these 10 shows that make them favorites!

Dog of the Geek: Dribbles!

dribblesBreed: Generic

Original Appearances: Harlem Globetrotters animated show (Hanna-Barbera/CBS, 1970-1972)

Other Appearances: Comic books and some merchandise.

Biography: Dribbles was the mascot for the animated version of the Harlem Globetrotters.

Powers: The most unusual thing about Dribbles was that his paws apparently accommodated the wearing of large sneakers!

Group Affiliation: Harlem Globetrotters.

Miscellaneous: Dribbles did not appear in subsequent Harlem Globetrotters animated appearances on The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries or the Super Globetrotters. Perhaps he and Granny (bus driver and manager of the animated Globetrotters) didn't want anything to do with that?

CBT: Hokey Wolf and Ding-A-Ling Featuring Huckleberry Hound!

Hokey Wolf & Ding-a-Ling Featuring Huckleberry Hound001
Yes, CBT is kind of on a Hanna-Barbera kick this month it seems!

Comic Book Advertisements!

Something a bit different this time around... in Gold Key's Harlem Globetrotters #4 (as well as in all the current Gold Key books, so far as I can tell), Kenner ran a special advertising insert with 16 pages promoting various items! Here are those pages, with some comments from me along the way!

Retro-Review: Zago, Jungle Prince #1!

Time for a new title in Retro-Reviews, and this time I've selected Zago, Jungle Prince #1. This Fox title lasted four issues before getting a makeover and being retitled “My Story” with #5. The Grand Comics Database has very little info about this issue, other than Victor Fox editing, which he did for the entire line, so far as I know! The cover for this issue (artist unknown) features Zago and his female companion beset upon by leopards with the most ridiculous jaws I've ever seen in any comic book!
