Cool Stuff: More Superman Stuff!

Time for more Superman Cool Stuff!

superman_foreignfig

This isn't a bad-looking foreign Superman figure, although that S looks way too big, eh? Oh, bad blogger... as soon as I typed that previous sentence, my subconscious said to me, in Superman's voice, "Do these tights make my 'S' look big?"

Movie of the Week QUADRUPLE FEATURE!

Yes, that's right, I've broken the barrier, it's four featured films this week! First up is "Cat-Women of the Moon"!

The First-Ever Certifiably Geek Blog Awards!

So, I've decided that it's high time that I started my own blog award, and one that's designed for my fellow geek bloggers to receive exclusively! I'm hoping that this award will sweep through all the geek blogs out there, and recognize all my fellow geeks for their blogging about the stuff that the average person just doesn't get!

Of course, as with all blog awards, there are rules that must be followed:
  1. Upon being given this award, please pass the award on to two other blogs that you feel are Certifiably Geek!
  2. Go to the the Certifiably Geek Blogs award winner listings blog and make sure that blog hasn't already received the award.
  3. Create a post on their blog announcing the two blogs they've decided to award.
  4. In that post, include the official graphic (as seen here)
  5. Provide a link to the two blogs
  6. Tell why they've chosen the two blogs
  7. Include the URL for the award blog (http://certifablygeekblogs.blogspot.com)
  8. Email me (the guy who created the award and manages this blog) at waffyjon at comcast dot net with the above information, plus what category they think the blog fits in (so I can label it accordingly). If the blog fits more than one category, they should include them all (for example, if the Random Acts of Geekery were awarded this -- which it can't, because none of my blogs are eligible to win -- the categories would be comics, toys, cartoons, sci-fi, Star Trek, monster movies, etc.)
  9. Contact the two blogs that they've awarded, tell them about this blog, as well as where they can find the post in which they were awarded. They can do this by emailing the bloggers (if that's possible) or by leaving a comment in a recent post.
And now, without further ado, let me announce who the first two winners of this soon-to-be coveted award are!

First up has to be Geek Orthodox, conceived and blogged by Seattle's Reis O'Brien! Yeah, I just gave him a "One Lovely Blog" award earlier, deal with it. Reis features Star Wars, action figures and other toys, role-playing games, comics, and more! His Friday video blogs are a special treat, as we get to see him in action wearing his beloved luchador mask!

The second award goes to Siskoid's Blog of Geekery, of course run by Canada's Siskoid! Like Reis, Siskoid also covers a range of geekery, with his daily Star Trek posts, Cat of the Geek, comics stuff, and gaming stuff.

Both of these blogs are well-deserving of the award, and I look forward to seeing who they award in turn!

By the 10's: Police Comics!

Today, we're looking at Police Comics, the title that launched Plastic Man!

One Lovely Blog Award!

So, way back on January 9, Al Bruno awarded the "One Lovely Blog" award to me, and it's take me until now to get around to posting the award! I'm also supposed to pass this along to other blogs that I feel are deserving of this... so, in no particular order, they are...

Plaid Stallions
The Aquaman Shrine
Toyriffic
Thom Zahler
Electronic Cerebrectomy
Comic Book Letterheads Museum
Geek Orthodox
Big Glee! The Albert Bryan Bigley Archives
One Man's Adventures as Spider-Man and Beyond!
Retrospace
Siskoid's Blog of Geekery
Dateline: Silver Age
Booksteve's Library
Comics Make No Sense

And now I've got to alert all of them that they've won!

Krypto by Thomas Zahler!

Thomas Zahler of "Love and Capes" did this excellent piece of Krypto for me! Check out more of Tom's stuff at the Love and Capes website!

This 'n That Time!

Well, let's see what miscellaneous things I have to talk about this time...

ITEM! I just finished preparing Random Acts of Geekery posts through the end of May! I'll be taking a break from Random Acts advance-posting for a little while and look at some of the other blogs.

ITEM! Those of you who've been checking out the Saturday Morning Superstars blog have probably noticed that a few days have gone by here and there without a post at all... part of it is the discouragement I've felt by discovering that YouTube's removed some cartoons after I'd advance posted them... but I'll be working in that blog next to fill in holes in the upcoming schedule... and may even post extra stuff in an attempt to make sure there's something there!

ITEM! So a while back, I asked here (as well as on my Facebook page) if someone had Kenner's Empire Strikes Back Give-A-Show set so I could get a scan of the first slide from them... well, just the other day, I won a complete set on eBay for a dirt-cheap price, so I'll have a full set for that video! I guess I'll be putting up one set for sale after those are all scanned, probably including a replica of the missing slide so it will be complete.

ITEM! I haven't been playing Super Heroes Alliance on Facebook for quite a while... but that doesn't mean I'm not playing any game with superheroes there! For the past few weeks, I've been playing Champions Online there, and it's been quite fun!

ITEM! There are no more items!

By the 10's: Plastic Man!

Can you believe I hadn't gotten to this one before?

When Mego came out with these Star Trek communicator walkie-talkies, I thought they were exremely cool...

Cool Stuff: Spider-Man Stuff!

Should be an all-Spidey edition this time around!

spidey_bubblegun

I'll never understand the reasoning for producing a Spidey bubble gun (aside from figuring kids would want it, and therefore they'd make money)...
