Original Comic Art!

Something a bit different to start things out this time...

dcsh_aquaman_blbart1
Here's the original cover art for Whitman's Aquaman Big Little Book! Some day, I'll have to include this one in "Children's Book Theatre"... More after the jump!

Give-A-Show Fridays: Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Archie!

I had to sweeten the ending of this one... there was no music on the original recording!

Good News and Bad News...

The good news is, NBC has officially renewed Chuck for another season!

The bad news is, my college is messing around with the Medical Assisting program, and it's really beginning to look like, thanks to that, it'll end up taking me three years to complete what's supposed to have been a two-year program.

I'm not sure what's going on at the college... today was Advising Day, no classes so students could meet with their advisers to plan their registration for summer and fall quarters. I'd contacted my adviser on Wednesday to see if I needed to meet with her or if I should just go ahead and register for the fall classes already planned out, and didn't hear anything at all until after 6:00 today, when I got an email from the dean of the department saying that things are changing around with the program, and not all the required classes would be available in the 2010-2011 school year (which was supposed to be the last year of my schooling).

I immediately forwarded a copy of that email to my dislocated worker program counselor (he's in charge of arranging the payment for my tuition, books, and fees) so that he'd be aware something was afoot, and also replied to the email asking to meet with someone on Friday or Monday to try to figure out just what the hell I'm supposed to be taking next.

I got a near-immediate response from the dean... well, a near-immediate automated response, saying he was going to be out all day on Friday, and to contact someone else I'd not dealt with before for immediate assistance.

I have no idea if my original adviser is even on staff anymore, naturally... I have no idea what the heck is happening at all...

Sheesh, just the kind of news I needed tonight...

Monster World #5, Part 5!

A couple of items in this week's installment of "Monster World" #5, starting with...

monsterworld5_044
This is the first of a two-page build-up for what they figured was an amazing announcement... more after the jump!

By the 10's: Bugs Bunny!

Bugs Bunny is one of those titles that's kind of difficult to do a "By the 10's" by, at least for the first few of the covers I need, because it originated as issues of Four Color, which had its own numbering system, but it appears Dell counted all Four Color issues of a title when figuring the numbering of an actual independent title! So I'm basically putting my "best guess" covers for issues 10 and 20 here!

So, this might be issue 10's cover, Four Color 266 (by the way, I'll be getting to Four Color sometime in the near future). More after the jump!

CBT: Bugs Bunny BLB "Accidental Adventure" Part 3!

Time for chapter 3! When last we left our heroes, Bugs and Pork decided they'd better stick around with Baltar the Viking, given that they were being pursued by a mob at a fishing village!

Cool Stuff: Bat-Stuff and More!!

I think this should be the last of the Bat-Stuff for a while... and if you don't like Batman stuff, hit the jump and scroll down a ways!

First up are the Batman Sparkle Paints, a nifty idea and variation on the paint-by-number craze that lasted until the late 70s or so! More after the jump!

Monster Monday!

revengecreature_tc.jpg
I said we'd start out this week's installment with "Revenge of the Creature" stuff, didn't I? More after the jump!

Dog of the Geek: Ralph Wolf!

Breed: Wolf

Original Appearances: Looney Tunes cartoons, starting with “Don't Give Up the Sheep” in 1953.

Other Appearances: Ralph has appeared in a number of other Looney Tunes-related products since 1988, including at least one video game.

Biography: As with Sam Sheepdog, we don't know anything about Ralph's personal history.

Powers: None. He actually seems to even lack the typical cartoon character ability to rebound from any damage so long as the scene changes, as we've seen him clocking out at the end of the day all bandaged up.

Group Affiliation: Presumably Ralph belongs to a wolf's union of some kind that covers his medical expenses!

Miscellaneous: Ralph is often mistaken for Wile E. Coyote, because they look so similar. Ralph often is presented with a differently-colored nose.
