Time once again for another installment of "Cool Stuff," in which I present photos of interesting geeky items that have been offered for sale in the past! It's always my hope that these posts will either spark some memories ("Hey! I used to have that!") or wonderment ("Wow, I never knew they made that!")... and even in some cases, amusement ("What? Who thought
that was a good idea?"). Let's see what this installment brings us!
First up this time, we've got a vintage Buzzy the Crow costume for Halloween! While the mask has a good likeness to it, you may be able to tell that the eye holes are off-center, so while the mask looks to one side, the wearer looks straight ahead. Note the lack of detail on the suit itself other than the picture and logo for Buzzy.
Probably of more interest to many of you is this vintage Cap'n Crunch Seadog Spy Kit! Whereas these days the good Cap'n interacts with human kids (when he gets commercials at all), we of course remember the good old days when he had commercials created by the Jay Ward Studio (creators of Bullwinkle and others) with his crew of three kids and his arch-foe, Jean LeFoote, the Barefoot Pirate! There were lots of cereal premiums offered like this one.
Check this out... a Cap'n Crunch coloring book! Can you imagine these days having a cereal mascot getting their own coloring book that wasn't a premium?
Here's a picture of the Captain Action Cave set, unfortunately just one side of it. I've featured other photos of it in the past, but this one is an "upgrade"for this particular side.
I continue to be fascinated with old pressbooks (even if Blogger insists I mean to write "presoaks" or "precooks" when I type that word), such as this one for
Close Encounters of the Third Kind. In this digital age, there's not that many unusual collectibles for new movies anymore.

These bendy aliens were made by Colorforms, of all people! I don't know what their names were supposed to be.
Next, we have this more standard Colorforms product, featuring Golden Girl and the Guardians of the Gemstones!
This was based on a very short-lived toy line that Galoob produced from 1984 to 1985, no doubt to compete with She-Ra and the like.
I had to save this coloring book of Adventures in Space just because it was so retro!
For some reason, of all the 1970s Hanna-Barbera shows,
The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan seems to have the most obsessed fans out there. The few YouTube videos I made from the Give-A-Show Projector slides based on this show have the highest number of hits of any of my other videos! Here's a coloring book based on the show, which must've been produced very quickly!

They did enough different Flintstones coloring books that they had to focus some on the supporting cast, such a Barney Rubble!
Next, this coloring book starring Barney Google and Snuffy Smith! These days, Snuffy (who took over the strip) is still being published!
Here's a bizarre little Batman coloring book... or at least, I think that's what it was! It could just be some kind of gift tag.
Nope, it was indeed a coloring book, even if there was nothing with Batman and Robin on the inside! What a let-down, eh?
I'm sure this Batman Trace and Color Book was much more satisfying to receive!
You know, I enjoy listening to Der Bingle (as he was nicknamed) on old time radio shows, as well as watching him in movies... but I can't muster up any interest in getting this coloring book featuring him!
